King of Shadows

I am on chapter 14 in King of Shadows by Susan Coopers. I'm almost done with the book, and i can't wait to find out what happens!

Back in the future, Nat was in the hospital bed, and his aunt came to see him. The doctors said that it wasn't healthy for him to have visitors yet. Nat kept on talking in old-time talk like prithee, ask thy master to let me go home and things like that. Back in Shakespeare's time, it was the night of the performance of A Mid Summer's Night Dream! Shakespeare and the rest of the team was very nervous for the Queen! Many things could go wrong! Once they got to the theater, some soldiers came and searched the Globe. Nat had to be painted like a fairy so that he could play Puck. After they painted Nat, suddenly somebody screamed! A catpurse(thief) stole somebody's bag. The catpurse was tied to a pool as punishment. The one of the people in the crowd ,that was waiting to watch the performance, went up to the boy(catpurse). The man was drunk and started cutting the catpurse until one of the stage-keepers sent the drunk away and let the boy free. In what seemed like less than a minute to Nat, the play started! Nat did his lines, and the crowd LOVED him!! Some of the crowd interrupted, but Nat made funny come backs that they loved! At the end of the play, they were all celebrating, until a guard came and told Shakespeare that the Queen wanted him, and Nat! WHAT HAPPENED?!

A question that I have for this part of the story is Why did the catpurse get away? I think that it might be because back then, catpurses happened a lot. They weren't going to arrest those TONS of people!! (they were too lazy :D)

I predict that the queen wanted Nat because she loved the play so much. I think this because the play was so good, and in the play they also talk about the queen(everybody laughed!).

A connection that I have for this part of the story has to do with Nat being in the play. This reminds me of the times when I was in dances(i was in one downtown at the Knickerbocker theater once!) and flet nervous all the time just like Nat!

King of Shadows (part 3)

I am on page 97 in the book King of Shadows by Susan Cooper. Many people have changed in this part of the book! It makes me want to keep reading!

Back in Shakespeare's time, Nat was going to move to live with Shakespeare! While Nat's there, somebody comes to their door and barged into Shakespeare's study! Nat listened in on them. The other man was talking about A Mid Summer's Night Dream. This was the same play that the queen was going to see secretly. The other person was trying to get Shakespeare to not let the queen go to the play because she wasn't allowed to and would have to sneak in. This means that she could be kidnapped or something since there would be no guards! Nat was practicing plays with the ,one and only, Shakespeare  Roper and Nat kept on arguing. Roper was Nat's enemy and he didn't try to hid it. But one day while they were back stage, Roper took a bite of an apple. He started choking on it! Nat did the Heimlich maneuver to him, and saved his life. The only problem was, the Heimlich wasn't invented yet! Nat just told the people watching him that his aunt taught him how to do it. Roper went over to Nat and told him that pretty much he's been a jerk.

A question that I have for this part of the story is why couldn't the queen come to the theater with guards without sneaking in? I think that the queen might have people that worry about her a lot and care about her a lot.

I predict that Roper will be mean again later. I think this because the kind of people Roper are usually too proud to actually like somebody after they hated them. They just can't do it.

My connection for this part of the book has to do with Nat listening in on Shakespeare and the man. This reminds of how I put on my detective shoes:) near Christmas-time and Birthday-time to find out what my presents are! Last Christmas, I found out what my aunt was getting me about a month before Christmas(my dad's phone!.. SHH! :).

King of Shadows (part 2)

                                  King of Shadows part 2

I have read through chapter 6 in King of Shadows by Susan Cooper. Many very weird things have happened to Nat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summery:

While Nat was asleep, he felt everything turning! Suddenly he woke up, but he knew something was wrong. He was in a different bed, in a different room(creepy!). He woke up and found someone named Harry looking over him! Harry asked him if he was okay and that he had to get to the theater! Nat was very confused, but soon realized that he went back in time! He was now in the time of Shakespeare!! Nat figured out that he was living with someone named Master Burbage. Nat and Harry went down to the globe theater(old, real one!), and Harry said that Nat was going to try out for the part Puck in A Mid Summer's Night Dream. This was the same part and play that Nat was going to be in hundreds of years later. Nat saw Mr. Shakespeare!! He didn't know what to say! Shakespeare was going to decide if Nat was going to be in his play. Nat had to compete against a lot of other boys, including this boy named Roper. Roper did whatever he could to make Nat look bad, but Nat was the best out of all of them and got the part. Later on, Nat went out into the streets and saw many interesting things, and was really different compared to the life that Nat was used to! Nat also saw this fight, where people would fight/torture bears for fun. People would bet on who would win. Back in normal time(while Nat was having fun 100s of years earlier , Nat was sitting on his bed, shaking with HIGH fever! He was taken to the Hospital, and the doctor thinks that he has the Bubonic Plague!

Question:

A question that I have for this part of the story is Why was Roper so mean to Nat? I think that he was mean because he was jealous that Nat was better than him at acting and gymnastics.

Prediction:

I predict that the people in Shakespeare's time will find out that Nat was from the future! I think this because Nat doesn't really know what people did back then, and I think that it will be easy to be found out.

Connection:

A connection that I have for this part of the story has to do with the people killing bears for fun. This reminds of how in "How to train you dragon" the vikings would kill dragons for a game.

King of Shadows (part 1)

I've read to the 3rd chapter in King of Shadows by Susan Cooper. I can't wait to see what happens to Nat!

Nat was chosen out of many boy actors to be in 2 Shakespeare plays that they would perform in the Globe Theater in London, England! Nat loved acting, and was CRAZY excited! They would perform the plays how they would in Shakespeare's time. There would be no girls, because the young boys whose voices hadn't changed yet would play the girl parts. When Nat got with all of the other boys, he met their teacher. He was named Arby. They all played a game to show trust. Nat got in the middle of 4 other boys and fell. He trusted the others to catch him, but one boy just was letting him fall, and then caught him at the last moment. Arbythrew him out of the play!!! Later on they all went to London to practice the plays. While they were practicing at the globe, Nat felt all weird, smelled flowers, and was about to fall over! This happened 3 times! What was going on? Late that night Nat also barfed, and finally went to sleep.

A question that I have about this part of the story is what was so special about the Globe Theater? I researched online and found out that it was Shakespeare's theater, and that it was destroyed. They made another one(a replica) and that was where Nat was.

I predict that Nat will go back in time. I think this because on the cover of the book it shows part of him in modern day and part a loooooooooong time ago. I also think this because he was having all of those weird feelings, and I think that he's going to fall asleep and turn up back in time.

A connection that I have for this part of the story has to do with Arby sending the kid away. Arby was really strict on trust. This is like how God is strict with us trusting in Him.

Chasing Vermeer (last part)

I have finished the book "Chasing Vermeer" by Blue Balliett. This was a great book!!!!! I found out that Balliett has just wrote another one as well! I can't wait to read it!

Petra and Calder were very suspicious! It seemed like everywhere they look there is mystery! The children noticed that the number 12 was everywhere, and had to do with everything it seemed. Petra and Calder went to see a friend of theirs who was very interested in Vermeer paintings. She was very mysterious. She started talking about something with vines, leaves, animals, and weird stuff like that. Later that day Calder and Petra decided to visit the museum. While they were there Petra noticed that the stairs at the museum had designs of vines, leaves, and everything else that their friend mentioned. Petra and Calder were a little freaked out! They had this feeling that the painting might be somewhere in the museum, because that would be one of the least likely places for the police to look. They started banging on parts of the stairs and they found a compartment. Inside there was the painting!!!! Petra and Calder raced away to get it to the police, but suddenly someone came out of the shadows and started chasing them!  The police finally caught him, and it turns out that the thief was going to smuggle it out of the country! Petra and Calder saved the painting!

I predict that Petra and Calder will have many other adventures that have to do with Vermeer paintings. I think this because they know a lot about those kinds of paintings and will probably find something to adventure on.

A question that i have for this story is Was there really something wrong with the painting? The thief told everyone that A Lady Writing really wasn't by Vermeer, and that a lot of the Vermeer paintings really weren't Vermeer's. I wonder if that was true.....?

A connection that I have for this story has to do with the two kids saving the painting. In many movies and tv shows the kids do what the adults just can't seem to do. In movies like Spy Kids, Harry Potter, and more; the KIDS solve the problem, not the adults.

Chasing VerMeer (part 1)

I chose the book Chasing VerMeer because my family recommended it to me and i was a mystery(which are my favorite kinds of books!) It is by Blue Balliett. So far it is a really great book and is really exciting to read. I am about on page 100:)

Summarize thingy-ma-jig:     There are two children named Petra and Calder and they are best friends. They only became friends though, because of some very strange happenings that all seem to be connected to them. At school they were suppose to find a strange and mysterious letter, and the next day Petra hears her parents talking about a letter and were arguing. Calder also had a coincident happen to him as well. He got a strange letter from a friends that had moved away. His friends said that he think that his neighbor was kidnapped because he was there one day, and gone the next. Calder also found a painting from him grandmother before she died by an artist named Vermeer called "A lady Writing". Just after that, the original painting of A Lady Writing got Stolen! In the newspaper it said that the thief left a note, and it said that he(or she) toke the painting because they thought that it wasn't really painted by Vermeer  They think that Vermeer didn't paint most of the paintings. He(or she) also said that he thanked all of the people that got the 3 letters and helped him. At school Petra and Calder saw that there teacher broke their arm, and she was always very nervous. Was she part of this?

Prediction:    I predict that Petra and Calder will be the ones that find out who took the painting. I think this because often in stories the kids solve the mystery.

Connection:    A connection that have for this part of the story has to do with Calder and Petra becoming friends because they were brought together by the weird things that were happening. They became friends for a reason, maybe to save the painting. This is like how God has a plan all of the time.

Question:    A question that I have for this part of the story is How did the thief find out about the Vermeer paintings? I think that the thief might have some inside information from museums or something.

For your focus question: respond to any topic in your book in either compare and contrast, cause and effect, PERSUASION (new), or problem and solution paragraph (do one you haven't done yet)
Focus Question:    Many effects happened when the thief stole the Vermeer painting. One of the effects was how sense many people saw that note that the thief left, they were interested in the paintings. They wanted to know if something was really up with the paintings. Another effect was how the museums were getting a lot more money! Sense (as i explained in the first effect) people were more interested in paintings, the museums would get more money. The last effect was how the schools were doing more projects about art. These are some of the effects of the Vermeer theft.

harry potter and the prisoner of azkaban(last part)

I am done with the book Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J. K. Rowling!!!!!!!! It is so good and I can't wait to read the rest of the series!

After Harry and the Gryffindor team won the quidditch match, they all celebrated! But Harry was a little shaken up. He saw a big  dog's shadow during the match. The shadow is suppose to mean a short death. Was the fortune teller teacher right?! Is his life short? A couple days later, Harry overheard that apparently  Black was Harry's dad's best friend, and Black betrayed them. He was the one that showed Voldemort where Harry's parents were. A deep hatred went into Harry's body. He wanted to find black. Kill Sirius Black. A couple days later, Hagrid's pet was going to be killed because it "hurt" Malphoy. Malphoy faked it, and now it was to be executed  So Harry, Hermione, and Ron went under Harry's invisibility cloak and snuck down to Hagrid's hut to try to stop it. While they were there, Hagrid told them that they can't stay, and that it had to be done. There was nothing to stop it. As Hermione, Ron, and Harry were going back to Hogwarts, they saw a big dog and Hermione's cat. The dog raced an jumped on Harry. Then, it grabbed Ron and pulled it under this crazy, mean tree! Harry and Hermione raced after him. What was going on? They went down to a room in the bottom of the tree. There they saw SIRIUS BLACK! Harry grabbed his wand and was ready to kill him. Black kept on saying that Harry was making a HUGE mistake. Just them, Professor Lupin came in! He stopped Harry from Hurting black. It was as if they were both...friends. Professor Lupin explained that Black really didn't do anything to Harry's parents. He would never do anything like that. It was another "friend" of Harry's parents. Lupin, Black, Harry's dad, and Peter Pettigrew were all friends. Peter is the person that showed Voldemort where Harry's parents were. It turns out that SCABBERS is Peter! Peter turned into a rat. They turned Scabbers into a human. They were taking him to Hogwarts to explain everything, but suddenly Lupin started turning into a werewolf! Apparently he forgot to take him medicine so that he wouldn't turn into one! Peter got away!!!! Harry, Hermione  and Ron got knocked out, and suddenly they were in the hospital wing. They overheard that the school caught Black! The demetors were about to kill him! Harry and Hermione had to do something. Hermione had a device where she could go back in time! Her and Harry went back in time, rescued Hagrid's pet and saved Black! Every turned out great! That was the end of Harry's 3rd year at Hogwarts!

A question that I have about his part of the book has to do with the last part of the book is Will Harry ever find a way to bring his parents back to life? I think that he might because in many books and movies the dead people come back.

I predict that Harry will meet Black again. I think this because Harry finally fond someone that could teach him about his parents, and I don't think that he would just disappear forever!

A connection that I have for the last part of the book has to do with everything turning out okay. This is like the saying "everything will turn out ok in the end, and if it's not ok it's not the end." This is like how we never have to worry about if it will be ok, because God will take care of it for us. :)

For your focus question: respond to any topic in your book in either compare and contrast, cause and effect, PERSUASION (new), or problem and solution paragraph (do one you haven't done yet).

I think that they should let Harry live with Black. Harry should live with Black because he could learn more about wizard-like things. When he lives with the Dursley's, he can't practice magic or anything. Harry should live with Black because he would learn about his parents. Harry knows almost nothing about his parents, and he needs to know more. Some people might want Harry to live with Dursleys because he might learn more about muggles. I think that Harry would be more fit to live with Black.

Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban (part 2)

I am on page 350 in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J. K. Rowling. This is SO exciting, that I can't stop reading it!!!!!!!!!!!!

After Harry ran away from the Dursleys, he  suddenly saw in the ally a giant dog-like shape in the shadows. Then, a huge flying bus came and stopped in front of Harry. Harry went in with his luggage and sat down. He told the bus driver that he wanted to go to Diagon ally. As he was riding, he saw a wizard paper. It told about someone named Sirius Black. He learned that he killed tons of people in a single curse, and he was held in a prison named Azkaban. He was on the loose!

Harry got off the bus, and he found out that he wouldn't be expelled. He met Ron and Hermione. The next day they would all go to Hogwarts. While they were up in Harry's hotel room, Ron said that he forgot some medicine for Scabbers in the downstairs. Harry went to get it, but he overheard Mr. and Mrs. Weasley(Ron's parents) talking about Black. Harry overheard that BLACK WAS AFTER HIM, and Black was friends with .the now dead, Voldemort.

The next day they all got on the train to Hogwarts. In the middle of the ride, the train stopped. A dark creature with a hood over him so that you couldn't see him face went into the train. Harry fainted. After a while, Harry woke up and found out that the creature was looking for Black. The creatures were the guards at Azkaban. Within the first couple weeks of school, Harry found out that they had a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. His name was Professor Lupin. Harry also had something else weird happen to him in Fortune Telling class. The teacher read Harry's palm and said that his life was very short. Harry also had a quidditch match coming up too. Harry was a seeker. The winning of the game all depended on Harry, and THEY WON! The gryffindor team beat slytherin(which had Malphoy as the seeker).

A question that I have about this part of the book is Why does it seem that the Defense Against the Dark Arts teachers are always the ones that get fired or something? I think that this might happen because it is probably one of the most dangerous job. They have to do TONS on spells and things like that.

I predict that Voldemort will come back! I predict this because he is kind of the "main" Villon in the other first two books. I also think this because i think that the author will want to surprise us. She'll make us think he's dead, then he will come back.

A connection that I have for this part of the book has to do with people always wanting to kill Harry. This is like how in most stories and movies, the nicest person always is hated the most. I think that people hate the nicest people because they are sinful.

For your focus question: respond to any topic in your book in an either compare and contrast, cause and effect, or problem and solution paragraph (do a different one than last week).
There are many solutions to the problem of Black wanting to kill Harry. Harry should first try to kill Black first. This would get rid of many of problems that would happen if Black got o Harry. Black obviously wouldn't be able to kill Harry if he was dead(hopefully you noticed that). Another solution to this problem is that Harry could figure out wear Black would most likely be and why he is trying to kill him. Then, Harry could pun himself in Black's shoes. Harry might be able to catch Black red handed, and then turn him in. This would again make it impossible for Black to kill Harry. All of these would help Harry get away from Black.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (part 1)

I'm now reading Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J. K. Rowling. I am on page 100. This is the third book in this series. I really like these books! I chose this book because I was eager to read the rest of the Harry Potter books!
Harry Potter lives with the Dursleys. They are one of the worst families that you would ever want to have! They are actually his relatives that he has to live with because his parents died from Voldemort when he was a baby. Harry is a wizard and he goes to the school Hogwarts. His aunt, uncle, and cousin think that he is as weird as they get, sense he's a wizard. They hate him and treat him very badly  Hogwarts is where Harry goes during the school year, but he still has to live with them in the summer.

Harry was doing his homework at night under his covers(he has to do this so that his aunt and uncle don't know he's doing magic) when he realizes that it's his birthday. The Dursleys never celebrate Harry's birthday, and never have. They always try their best to pretend Harry doesn't exist. Suddenly, Harry hears something hitting his window.  He opens his window and in comes some messenger owls from Hogwarts, Hermione(one of his friends from Hogwarts),  Hagrid(a friend that always helps Harry with his troubles), and Ron(another good friend). He gets birthday presents from Ron, Hermione, and Hagrid. Then he gets a letter from Hogwarts that tells him about a program where he can go out to the wizarding world every weekend. The only problem is, a parent has to sign it!

In the morning, Harry goes downstairs for breakfast. As he is eating the Dursleys give him so terrible, bad news. His other aunt is coming to visit for a whole week! Him and his other aunt go back to very hateful times. This is the worst birthday present that he could have imagined! He asks him uncle if he is very good to his other aunt and doesn't do any magic on her(as he has always wanted to make her explode!), then he can go to the program. His uncle says yes, but only if there is no funny magic.

Harry's other aunt comes and Harry gets through 6 of the 7 days living with her. It was very hard for him to not talk back to her at least, but he manages! Then his other aunt starts talking about Harry's parents, and how they were crazy and how they died in a "car wreck (as the Dursleys tell everyone). Harry looses it. He get angry and accidentally make his other aunt EXPLODE. Before his uncle could grab him, Harry goes to his room and grabs all of his stuff and is out the door. The only problem is what he will do next?!

I predict that Harry will blow up many other people! I know that if I could blow up people, I would to a lot of people! I think this because sense he is a wizard and his cousin, aunt, and uncle aren't he would use that against them.

A connection that I have for this part of the book has to do with Harry blowing up his aunt. Sometimes I lose my temper, and I wish that people exploded too! I can be a lot like Harry(except for the fact that he's a wizard!:)

A question that I have for this part of the story is Why do the Dursleys hate Harry? I think that they might just hate harry because he is better than Dudley(his cousin). Dudley is a brat. He doesn't care about anyone else(especially Harry), but his parents still treat him better than Harry who is polite and nice. I also think that they might treat him differently because he is a wizard.

The Dursley's house and Hogwarts are very much the same, and very much different. They are both the same because the both have people that are mean, like the Dursleys and Draco Malfoy. They both are also places where you learn(kind of!!!). At the Dursley's you learn from them how NOT to act(ha-ha).  At Hogwarts you learn how to be a good wizard and things like that. They are both also different. At the Dursley's, Harry isn't allowed to do magic(even though he does it anyway). At Hogwarts you can do magic as much as you'd like. They are also different because Hogwarts is a really nice place to live, and the Dursley's house is one of the worst places to live! The Dursley's and Hogwarts are the same and different.

The Hobbit (Last part!!!!)

I have finish the book The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien. It is soooooo good! I can't wait to read The Lord of the Rings books.

The adventurers slowly get out of the tunnel after the dragon has been gone for days. They wonder to the place where all of the gold and treasure is. They barely dare to touch anything! Is the dragon gone for good?! Bilbo looks around and sees a huge jewel. He takes it without telling the others. They go outside to a lookout nearby. They stay there for a couple days hoping that they won't starve.

Suddenly, giant eagles come up the Bilbo and the dwarves. He tells them that the dragon is dead!! The adventurers are amazed! How did it happen?? The Eagle said that the dragon went to attack a town of dwarves nearby. One of the dwarves shot an arrow at the dragon's left side, where the dragon had no scales. Now the dragon is dead, but the eagle has some bad news. The other dwarves and elves found out and are coming to attack Bilbo and the others! They want the gold and silver! Thorin sends out the eagles to bring his cousin and his army to help them.

The attackers came up to the mountain and made it where nobody could go in or out. It is like that for several days! They just want some of the gold to pay for the town that the dragon trashed, but Thorin won't give any! He is being very stubborn, and Bilbo can't handle it! He puts on his magic ring at the dead of night. He goes out of the mountain and sneaks past the guards. He goes up to the head elves and dwarves. He takes off his ring and talks to them a long time. Bilbo gives them the big jewel that he took earlier. He tells them that they can take that to rebuild their city.

Bilbo goes back to the mountain. Later that day, the elves and the other dwarves go up to Thorin. They all make up, but Thorin is really mad at Bilbo for giving it to them. He doesn't necessarily like Bilbo that much anymore! Suddenly, Thorin's cousin and his army come up. Thorin thinks that they don't need them anymore, but then one of the other eagles comes up. The eagle tells them that goblins are on their way! Looks like a war!

The goblins come up shortly, and the war began. Bilbo chickened out and put on his ring. At least he can be a little more safe! During the war though, he gets knocked out(it seems like that happens a lot to him)! When he wakes up, the war is over. He doesn't know if they won or not! He wonders around and finds Gandalf (who came during the war from a wizard meeting when he sensed something was wrong). He is very surprised and happy. He finds out that they WON THE WAR!

Gandalf shows him Thorin. He had tons of injuries, and he's about to die. Bilbo and him talk for a long time. The Bilbo leaves very sad. Two of the other dwarves died during the battle too. Bilbo's journey was over. He stayed a couple more days. Then he headed home with Gandalf. Now Bilbo has lots of gold, and most of all, he SURVIVED! He's home at last(or until another adventure comes his way!)

A connection that I have with this last part of the book has to do with Thorin and the two dwarves dying. This kind of reminds me how sometimes to make something good happen, bad things have to happen too. This is like how for us Christians to be able to go to Heaven, Jesus had to die for us.

A question that I have for this last part of the book is Why would Bilbo's neighbors not like him anymore after he gets home? Whenever Bilbo gets back home, he isn't respect anymore. I think that the others might not like Bilbo as much anymore because he's different. A lot of people treat others different because they're different.

I predict that Bilbo will have many other adventures later on. I think this will happen because he is a lot more adventurous than before this adventure. He is up to anything now!!!!!!

the hobbit(part 8)

I am on page 292 in The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien. Their adventure is almost over!! It's so exciting!!!!!!!! THE HOBBIT IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Lonely Mountain
The adventurers got to the mountain! They had heard off a hidden door. They go off looking for it hoping to find it so that they can get inside and see if the dragon is still there. They find a secret door after days of looking, but they can't seem to open it! They try everything. From trying to bust it open to sliding it, but they can't get it open. Will their adventure end right there???? Thorin remembers that Gandalf gave him a key at the beginning of their journey. Will it work??? They try it and it does!! Now they wonder what is inside!

Smaug's treasure
They sleep near the opening of the door. Then they decide to get Bilbo to put on his ring and go investigate. He goes and finds the dragon sleeping on TONS of gold and treasure. The treasure makes Bilbo freeze. There is sooooooooooooo much of it! Suddenly, the dragon opens his eyes! Bilbo stays put thinking that the dragon won't see him sense he is wearing his magic ring. The dragon could hear him and feel him walk. The dragon started to talk to him. He started telling him that he shouldn't trust the dwarves, and also that apparently the dragon ate all of their horses!!! Bilbo is terribly scared, but he keeps his ground. The dragon was about to eat him, and Bilbo escaped just in time.

When he gets back to his friends, they ask him how it went. He tells them. How are they going to kill the dragon?! While Bilbo and him were having their little talk, Bilbo noticed that his scales were very hard. He also noticed that there was a place on the dragon's left side of his chest. Right by his heart! Now they know where to kill him, but they don't know how to get close enough! That night Bilbo told the others that the should move places. The dragon might have realized where they were staying. Just after they leave, the dragon smashes the mountain! Bilbo saved them just in time!

They all hide in a tunnel. They see the dragon fly up and leave the mountain! Now what should they do??? The gold is theirs(or at least until the dragon comes back!)

A question that I have for this part of the story is Will the adventurers end up with the treasure? I think that they might end up to have none of the gold. I think that the end of the book will have them learn a lesson or something like that. This happens in a lot of movies and books.

Smaug flying away
A connection that I have for this part of the story has to do with when the dragon leaves. When he leaves, the adventurers don't know what to do! This is like how a lot of times people say something to me, and I don't know what to do. I don't know what to say! I hate this so much, and I bet that Bilbo and the others felt similar.

I predict that the adventurers will have a lot of wars after this book. I think that because they could have so much gold. Other people would be beyond jealous. When Bilbo gets back to his house, he might be really rich. His friends would be amazed! He used to never go on adventures, and now that he did he comes back rich. I also think that all off his friends will start to go on adventures.

The Hobbit

I am on page 224 in the Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien. They escape from many adventures. I'm almost done with it and can't wait to finish it!

They adventurers go out to look for Thorin. As they are out looking they come to a town of wood elves.  The elves take all of them as prisoners, except Bilbo because he put on his magic ring! The dwarves wonder what they did wrong! Apparently, the wood elves are the same people that they saw in the woods having a feast. The elves think that the adventurers were trying to attack them! They try to explain that they just wanted food, but the elves won't believe them.

Bilbo wonders around the dungeon while he's invisible. He discovers that Thorin is being held captive as well! Bilbo has to think of a plan to get out! He also finds a stream that goes under the dungeon. The elves would put trash and old food through it. Bilbo decides that all that he needs to do is get his friends out of jail, and then they can escape through the stream!

Bilbo sneaks up to the elf on guard while he is asleep and takes the keys to get his friends out of the prison. He takes his friends out of their cells, and they go to the stream. They are barrels by the stream. Bilbo packs his friends in the barrels and they go off down the dirty water! The only problem is that Bilbo forgets to pack himself in one! He has little time because elves are coming down the hall! He jumps out into the stream and grabs on to one of the barrels! They all go down stream.

They stop and get out. They continue on their journey being tired and weak. They go for a very long time. They keep on getting closer and closer to the dreaded mountain with the dragon inside. They come to another town with other people in it. Thorin's father was killed, and he was the kind of the mountain. These are the people that were under Thorin's father's command. The dwarves in the city greet him very well! They feed the adventurers and give them rest. After a couple weeks, the adventurers go on to their destiny. The mountain.

I predict that the dragon will end up to be something totally unexpected. I think that he might be the opposite of what the dwarves and Bilbo think he(or she!) will be like. I think this because in a lot of books the villain turns out to be something different to make the reading surprised.

A question that I have about this part of the book is Why did Gandalf and the dwarves decide to take back the mountain. I think that they might of gotten bored like how i do sometimes (ok, a lot!) and they wanted an adventure. They wanted to take back what was rightfully theirs sense nobody else would.

A connection that I have for this part of the book has to do with the other dwarves that Thorin's dad used to rule. Whenever they got there, the dwarves didn't even know who Thorin was, but when they found out how he was they got really excited. This like how in a lot of movies there are "long lost sisters" and things like that. When they figure out who they really are, they get really excited.

The hobbit

I am on page 163 in The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien. This part is really exciting! Many things happen to the travelers. I can't stop reading it!!!

After Gandalf leaves the others, they go on their way into the dark, mysterious forest. They walk for weeks. They don't know how much longer until the end of the forest. They're starting to run out of food! Will they starve? Even though Beorn and Gandalf said to stay out of the forest and never go into it, the travelers are desperate for food. They go anyway.

They enter the forest and walk for awhile. They suddenly see lights in the forests! They get up close and see tons of wood elves eating a HUGE feast! The adventurers go up to them, and all of the lights go off and the elves disappear! The adventurers try two more times, and the same thing happens. What is going on?!

The Giant Spiders
They all sit down to rest, but as they are sleeping they see eyes in the darkness! Then, huge spiders come up. Bilbo quick puts on his magic ring and walks off to watch. The spiders take the others and tie them up in their webs! Bilbo comes to the rescue. He starts killing the spiders with his dagger, and sense the spiders can't see him they can't fight back.
The dwarves in the spider's webs

They all escape (eventually!). After they escape they settle down again to rest. They talk, and then they realize that Thorin is missing!!!! Where could he have gone?!

A question that I have about this part of the book is Why hasn't Bilbo told the others about his magic ring? I think that he might of been saving it for the right time. He might of thought that he should save it until it is necessary.

A connection that I have about this part of the book has to do with Bilbo rescuing the others. Bilbo shows up when all of the others think that there is no hope, especially from him. They all thought that he wasn't good enough to rescue them. There are a lot of books and movies where the person that you would least expect to save the day rescues everyone.

A prediction that I have about this part of the book is that the giant spiders will come back. I think this because now they are VERY mad at Bilbo and the others. I think that they will defeat them forever. Will this happen later on in this book?

The Hobbit (part 5)

I am now on page 150 in The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien. Many things have happened in this book! I also watched the movie and I can't wait to see the other ones!

After Bilbo escapes from Gullum he finds a way out of the cave. He finds the dwarves and Gandalf. Bilbo's companions tell him that while he was knocked out, tell were fighting the goblins. The goblins were threatening the dwarves and suddenly Gandalf appeared and killed the goblin king, and now the goblins are chasing them!

Bilbo and his friends start to run. They run until they get to a cliff where they can't escape! They all climb up a tree and are safe..for a little while! Wolves came with the goblins, and they all surrounded the tree that the adventurers were in. Suddenly, huge Bald Eagles come and rescue Bilbo, the dwarves, and Gandalf.

After Bilbo and the others escape from the goblins and wolves they go on their way again. Gandalf takes the crew to one of his friend's houses. His friend's name is Beorn. He is a huge guy who can change into different kinds of animals! They stay there for a couple days.

Beorn lends the adventurers food, ponies, and a horse for Gandalf. They go on their way again to their destination. After they walk for awhile, they get to a forest. At the forest, Gandalf tells the others that he will not go on the rest of the adventure with them! He is leaving them!!!!!!! What will the others do if they get in trouble?!?!

This part of the book is very exciting! A prediction that I have for this part of the book has to do with Gandalf. I predict that even though he says he is leaving, he will come back. I think this because i don't think that the crew can go on without him! A question that I have about this part of the book is will the dwarves leave Bilbo?! I think that this might happen because sometimes that dwarves doubt Bilbo. Gandalf told the dwarves that Bilbo is there for a reason, but will they listen? A connection that I have for this part of the book has to do with the adventurers in the tree. When they are in the tree they think there is no hope, but they are recued! Sometimes i feel like there is no hope for me, but everything always turns out okay! This is such a great book, and I can't wait to see what happens next!
