The Mysterious Benedict Society(part 3)

I am on page 209 out of 480 in the book The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart. The children meet different characters and find out a lot of new things.

The children are at the school where many things seem suspicious. The people there are rude. There are also a lot of rules to follow. When the children are asking the teacher questions about the school, the teacher doesn't answer that and gets nervous. While the children are investigating, they almost get swallowed up by big holes in the grass. What are the holes for? They also noticed that the school is like any other school, but there are no mirrors in the building! Why wouldn't they want mirrors? There is something very fishy about the school.

The children met a man named Mr. Curtain. He is the person that runs the school. He looks just like Mr. Benedict! Have the children been tricked? Were they tricked into going to the school and will they ever be able to go back to their homes? They sent some mores code messages back to Mr. Benedict's house. They found out that Mr. Curtain must be a twin brother of Mr. Benedict's! Mr. Benedict was an orphan when he was a kid. His parents died when he was a baby. It is possible that they are twins.

There is a girl named Martina Crowe. She is really mad at Reynie and Sticky. One of the teachers told them that Martina is just mad because they get better grades on quizzes. Reynie and Sticky have been doing very well on the quizzes at school.

The children have heard about a room called The waiting room. It seems that the waiting room is not the place that you'd want to be. They see children start crying at the sound of it's name. What is the waiting room? What do they do inside of it?

I predict that while the children are sending Morse code messages, they will get caught. I think that the people there will see what they are writing. I think this because there are many people on guard at the school. It would be easy to catch them with their flashlight sending messages out of their window.

Does Mr. Curtain know that the children are secret agents? I think that he might know.  He seems to keep a very close watch on the children. Reynie and Sticky are doing extraordinary in school too. This might also make him wonder how they know so much.

My brothers and I watched a movie called Agent Cody Banks. In this movie he is a secret. He goes under cover at a school just like how Reynie, Kate, Sticky, and Constance go under cover at a school. He has about the same mission that the children have.

I found an external conflict in this book. It is an external conflict because it is an argument between two or more people. The children were fighting about what the Morse code message meant. The message was some sort of riddle. Some of the children thought that the message meant that Mr. Curtain was really Mr. Benedict. They thought that they had been tricked. Other children thought that the message meant that they were the same person.
