Chasing Vermeer (last part)

I have finished the book "Chasing Vermeer" by Blue Balliett. This was a great book!!!!! I found out that Balliett has just wrote another one as well! I can't wait to read it!

Petra and Calder were very suspicious! It seemed like everywhere they look there is mystery! The children noticed that the number 12 was everywhere, and had to do with everything it seemed. Petra and Calder went to see a friend of theirs who was very interested in Vermeer paintings. She was very mysterious. She started talking about something with vines, leaves, animals, and weird stuff like that. Later that day Calder and Petra decided to visit the museum. While they were there Petra noticed that the stairs at the museum had designs of vines, leaves, and everything else that their friend mentioned. Petra and Calder were a little freaked out! They had this feeling that the painting might be somewhere in the museum, because that would be one of the least likely places for the police to look. They started banging on parts of the stairs and they found a compartment. Inside there was the painting!!!! Petra and Calder raced away to get it to the police, but suddenly someone came out of the shadows and started chasing them!  The police finally caught him, and it turns out that the thief was going to smuggle it out of the country! Petra and Calder saved the painting!

I predict that Petra and Calder will have many other adventures that have to do with Vermeer paintings. I think this because they know a lot about those kinds of paintings and will probably find something to adventure on.

A question that i have for this story is Was there really something wrong with the painting? The thief told everyone that A Lady Writing really wasn't by Vermeer, and that a lot of the Vermeer paintings really weren't Vermeer's. I wonder if that was true.....?

A connection that I have for this story has to do with the two kids saving the painting. In many movies and tv shows the kids do what the adults just can't seem to do. In movies like Spy Kids, Harry Potter, and more; the KIDS solve the problem, not the adults.

Chasing VerMeer (part 1)

I chose the book Chasing VerMeer because my family recommended it to me and i was a mystery(which are my favorite kinds of books!) It is by Blue Balliett. So far it is a really great book and is really exciting to read. I am about on page 100:)

Summarize thingy-ma-jig:     There are two children named Petra and Calder and they are best friends. They only became friends though, because of some very strange happenings that all seem to be connected to them. At school they were suppose to find a strange and mysterious letter, and the next day Petra hears her parents talking about a letter and were arguing. Calder also had a coincident happen to him as well. He got a strange letter from a friends that had moved away. His friends said that he think that his neighbor was kidnapped because he was there one day, and gone the next. Calder also found a painting from him grandmother before she died by an artist named Vermeer called "A lady Writing". Just after that, the original painting of A Lady Writing got Stolen! In the newspaper it said that the thief left a note, and it said that he(or she) toke the painting because they thought that it wasn't really painted by Vermeer  They think that Vermeer didn't paint most of the paintings. He(or she) also said that he thanked all of the people that got the 3 letters and helped him. At school Petra and Calder saw that there teacher broke their arm, and she was always very nervous. Was she part of this?

Prediction:    I predict that Petra and Calder will be the ones that find out who took the painting. I think this because often in stories the kids solve the mystery.

Connection:    A connection that have for this part of the story has to do with Calder and Petra becoming friends because they were brought together by the weird things that were happening. They became friends for a reason, maybe to save the painting. This is like how God has a plan all of the time.

Question:    A question that I have for this part of the story is How did the thief find out about the Vermeer paintings? I think that the thief might have some inside information from museums or something.

For your focus question: respond to any topic in your book in either compare and contrast, cause and effect, PERSUASION (new), or problem and solution paragraph (do one you haven't done yet)
Focus Question:    Many effects happened when the thief stole the Vermeer painting. One of the effects was how sense many people saw that note that the thief left, they were interested in the paintings. They wanted to know if something was really up with the paintings. Another effect was how the museums were getting a lot more money! Sense (as i explained in the first effect) people were more interested in paintings, the museums would get more money. The last effect was how the schools were doing more projects about art. These are some of the effects of the Vermeer theft.

harry potter and the prisoner of azkaban(last part)

I am done with the book Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J. K. Rowling!!!!!!!! It is so good and I can't wait to read the rest of the series!

After Harry and the Gryffindor team won the quidditch match, they all celebrated! But Harry was a little shaken up. He saw a big  dog's shadow during the match. The shadow is suppose to mean a short death. Was the fortune teller teacher right?! Is his life short? A couple days later, Harry overheard that apparently  Black was Harry's dad's best friend, and Black betrayed them. He was the one that showed Voldemort where Harry's parents were. A deep hatred went into Harry's body. He wanted to find black. Kill Sirius Black. A couple days later, Hagrid's pet was going to be killed because it "hurt" Malphoy. Malphoy faked it, and now it was to be executed  So Harry, Hermione, and Ron went under Harry's invisibility cloak and snuck down to Hagrid's hut to try to stop it. While they were there, Hagrid told them that they can't stay, and that it had to be done. There was nothing to stop it. As Hermione, Ron, and Harry were going back to Hogwarts, they saw a big dog and Hermione's cat. The dog raced an jumped on Harry. Then, it grabbed Ron and pulled it under this crazy, mean tree! Harry and Hermione raced after him. What was going on? They went down to a room in the bottom of the tree. There they saw SIRIUS BLACK! Harry grabbed his wand and was ready to kill him. Black kept on saying that Harry was making a HUGE mistake. Just them, Professor Lupin came in! He stopped Harry from Hurting black. It was as if they were both...friends. Professor Lupin explained that Black really didn't do anything to Harry's parents. He would never do anything like that. It was another "friend" of Harry's parents. Lupin, Black, Harry's dad, and Peter Pettigrew were all friends. Peter is the person that showed Voldemort where Harry's parents were. It turns out that SCABBERS is Peter! Peter turned into a rat. They turned Scabbers into a human. They were taking him to Hogwarts to explain everything, but suddenly Lupin started turning into a werewolf! Apparently he forgot to take him medicine so that he wouldn't turn into one! Peter got away!!!! Harry, Hermione  and Ron got knocked out, and suddenly they were in the hospital wing. They overheard that the school caught Black! The demetors were about to kill him! Harry and Hermione had to do something. Hermione had a device where she could go back in time! Her and Harry went back in time, rescued Hagrid's pet and saved Black! Every turned out great! That was the end of Harry's 3rd year at Hogwarts!

A question that I have about his part of the book has to do with the last part of the book is Will Harry ever find a way to bring his parents back to life? I think that he might because in many books and movies the dead people come back.

I predict that Harry will meet Black again. I think this because Harry finally fond someone that could teach him about his parents, and I don't think that he would just disappear forever!

A connection that I have for the last part of the book has to do with everything turning out okay. This is like the saying "everything will turn out ok in the end, and if it's not ok it's not the end." This is like how we never have to worry about if it will be ok, because God will take care of it for us. :)

For your focus question: respond to any topic in your book in either compare and contrast, cause and effect, PERSUASION (new), or problem and solution paragraph (do one you haven't done yet).

I think that they should let Harry live with Black. Harry should live with Black because he could learn more about wizard-like things. When he lives with the Dursley's, he can't practice magic or anything. Harry should live with Black because he would learn about his parents. Harry knows almost nothing about his parents, and he needs to know more. Some people might want Harry to live with Dursleys because he might learn more about muggles. I think that Harry would be more fit to live with Black.
